A standard fence is usually a full privacy pressure-treated fence. And for good reason. However, there are many styles of fences obviously. Maybe you want a different material? Maybe you want ‘Shadowbox’ or ‘Box Style’ which is where you can see through on the angle, and that dog next door can too. Running up and down the fence during your barbecue. Both of these styles are very common and no problem of course.
Fences are built to code with 6X6 posts. It is no longer to code to have fences built with 4X4 posts. These are generally only used for posts on railing or stairs or privacy screens etc.) Frame of fence is nailed to post with 3″ galvanized nails. Fence is built only inches off grade, level from highest point of section. Unless dealing with a steep incline/decline due to a hill. Then it’s a custom cut job, working with the grade.
There are many styles of fences. They are all manageable. No problem. They all require different amounts of labour and material. Certain materials are more expensive, like Cedar. Maybe curved or decorative edges if that’s what you want? Sure. Horizontal fencing? Sure. Unique wood or composite? Ok I can do that. Maybe even bevelled edges? It’s more labour, but whatever you want really. If you can show me an image of what you want, the chances are I can do that.
Are your neighbours on board with all this? Do they have any questions? If so, I’m happy to meet with them.
Tree roots, am I replacing a fence that tree roots have already destroyed? How far do those tree roots go? And how will we deal with that? Can I dig new holes? Usually not a problem.
These are a few things I look for, or ask, when I come to look at a job for a quote.
